BOOK OF THE DEAD

Book Secret: The Archivist gains the ability to Turn Undead once per day.

Level Name Effect
0 Detect Undead You can sense the presence of undead and know their general direction. The range of the spell is 30ft and the casting time of this spell is 1 min. This lasts a number of hours equal to your caster level rounded up.
1 Gentle Repose You preserve the remains of a dead creature so that they do not decay. Doing so effectively extends the time limit on raising that creature from the dead (see raise dead). Days spent under the influence of this spell don’t count against the time limit. Additionally, this spell makes transporting a fallen comrade more pleasant. The spell also works on severed body parts and the like. This spell lasts a number of days equal to 1/2 your caster level rounded up.
2 Hide from Undead Undead cannot see, hear, or smell you. Nonintelligent undead creatures are automatically affected and act as though the warded creatures are not there. Intelligent undead are entitled to a Will save. If it fails, the subject can’t see any of the warded creatures. However, if it has reason to believe unseen opponents are present, it can attempt to find or strike them. If you attempt to turn or command undead, touches an undead creature, or attacks any creature (even with a spell), the spell ends. This spell last 1 minute per caster level.
3 Command Undead You can command a number mindless undead creatures equal to your charisma modifier. You can communicate only basic commands, such as “come here,” “go there,” “fight,” “stand still,” and so on. Your commands are not telepathic. The undead creature must be able to hear you. Nonintelligent undead won’t resist suicidal or obviously harmful orders and will not defend themselves from your attacks.
4 Speak with Dead You grant the semblance of life and intellect to a corpse, allowing it to answer several questions that you put to it. You may ask one question per two caster levels. Unasked questions are wasted if the duration expires. The corpse’s knowledge is limited to what the creature knew during life, including the languages it spoke. Answers are usually brief, cryptic, or repetitive. This spell does not let you actually speak to the person (whose soul has departed). It instead draws on the imprinted knowledge stored in the corpse. The partially animated body retains the imprint of the soul that once inhabited it, and thus it can speak with all the knowledge that the creature had while alive. The corpse, however, cannot learn new information. You can ask the corpse a number of questions equal to your wisdom modifier.
5 Lay to Rest You lay the dead to rest. You destroy a number undead creature equal to your wisdom modifier. Any target of his spell is subject to a will save.
6 Create Undead You create a mindless undead. All of its stats are 10, it has no skills and it is limited to walking and attacking. At the time of creation you can communicate a single basic command, such as “come here,” “go there,” “fight,” “stand still,” and so on. The casting time on this spell is one hour.
